Now that it’s officially summer, it’s time to fill the hills and valleys of Williamsburg, WV again for two full days of music, camping, and fun. Mountain Music Mayhem is the theme for this years Badlands Bluegrass Festival which will host 9 bands on the Poor Farm campground this June 20th and 21st. The music line up (so far) includes regional country and bluegrass acts: The Hackensaw Boys, The Wild Rumpus, Deer Run Drifters, Black Iron Gathering, Fox n Hounds, Black Horse Band, Sky Smeed, Mountain Station, and The Wolf Creek Band.
The music starts Friday night at 6pm with the energetic bluegrass sounds of Wolfcreek. Next up, a punk and folkly bluegrass band, Black Iron Gathering, takes the stage next at 8pm. This band is known to pulse the audience into dancing and singing along. Next on the line up is Greenbrier County’s favorite stompgrass band that was recently spotlighted in Alternate Roots’ “Top 50 Americana Bands,” The Wild Rumpus. They peform at 10pm. Wrapping up the evening at midnight is Sky Smeed, a soloist who travels coast to coast performing upbeat blues, Americana music.
On day 2 at noon, Mountain Station opens the stage with a unique blend of country, rock, bluegrass, and gospel. Fox N Hounds is up next at 2pm. They will entertain the crowd with bluegrass songs of love, despair, adventure, and unhealthy appetites. At 4pm, Black Horse Band will deliver songs of country legends: Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Hank Williams. Deer Run Drifters will take over at 6pm delivering energetic music from their recently released (full length) album “Appalachian Blues.” Badlands’ headliner: Hackensaw Boys performs at 8pm. This band is currently one of the “most exciting groups charting new territory in today’s diverse Americana music scene.” For more info on this band, visit: hackensawboys.com. Concluding the weekend’s entertainment will be Fox N Hounds performing at 11pm.
Tickets may be purhased online right now at badlandsbluegrass.com or are at Neathawk Lumber in Lewisburg, WV. Advance tickets are just $45 for both days. At the gate, admission is: $55 for 2 days, $25 Friday, and $35 on Saturday.
